Amanda Bossard was just out her high school days when she started her marine biology education at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard launched her career as a seafood commercial worker in 1999. She started working on the F/V Sunset a 65' halibut-schooner and was later converted into a Salmon tender, in the name of Murat Aritan, who worked in commercial fishing since. Bossard has been married to Aritan and has joined their alliance to gain access to their industries. Both are advocates of conserving renewable and sustainable marine resources. In 2007, now a mother of two young children Bella age three as well as Andre 1 Bossard and then relocating back to live in Philadelphia, opened a direct market wholesale distributor of seafood called Otolith. The husband of the business has a lengthy career in the fishing industry that often means they stay separate for a period of five or more months. That's when they're focusing on their environment and financial targets. In July 2016, Bossard along with her daughter Isabella aged 12 and son Andre age 10 are back in Southeast Alaska annually each summer as deckhands during the wild salmon harvest in summer. Utilizing a troller of 42 inches, the Bossards capture salmon with hooks. They then work with Aritan in a local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
